Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero, an American singer and actress has been a model for a while. Her most well-known role was co-starring in Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain and for having been the main singer for the girl group Apollonia 6. She was one of several female performers who gained from Prince's association during the 1980s. The actress was born Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959 her career started as a model and actress by the end of the '70s and included an appearance on the television show CHiPS. She was the lead female for Prince's Purple Rain in 1984 (at the time he changed his name). In the same year, she was replaced by Vanity in the form of the group Vanity 6 and performed with their name Apollonia 6 in the film. The three scored a minor hit with Sex Shooter but it was in the role of Prince's duet partner in Take Me with You from the soundtrack that she made an impact on the charts. Kotero ended her relationship with Prince following differences during the course of her career. Apollonia 6 broke up after their fallout. Kotero was in a few minor films during the time, but reportedly declined to be in the Purple Rain sequel Under the Cherry Moon. In 1985-1986 she was offered a role on the evening drama Falcon Crest. Apollonia was her first public appearance in 1988. But the R&B/dance album that was pretty pedestrian and did not impress people who were buying music at that at the time, soon vanished. The singer remained busy (if slightly underneath the radar) in the role of actress throughout the ensuing decade with small television roles and minor films and released videos for exercises. Apollonia made a bilingual CD named Stay With Me in 1997. Later on, following returning to school and receiving the degree of filmmaking, she founded her own production company.
